Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival as families came to enjoy the stalls, goods and live entertainment from the M6 Youth Theatre, solo artist Becky Langan, and cooking shows from Andrew Nutter and Chris Bavin. Local band The Scattering got the crowd going with their upbeat tunes later in the afternoon.
People watched in surprise as the Mayor Ray Dutton abseiled down the side of the Town Hall. He told Rochdale Online that it was nowhere near as dangerous as watching his wife, the Mayoress, take to the kitchen to cook with Andrew Nutter.
He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed abseiling and it’s all for a good cause. You would think it was dangerous but it’s not. Dangerous is watching my wife in the cooking tent with Andrew Nutter. I stood there with a fire extinguisher just in case.”
He added: “In all seriousness though, what a great event.”
