Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre evacuated
Date published: 23 August 2016
Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre was evacuated at 12 noon yesterday (Monday 22 August).
Staff congregated in the Memorial Gardens in the rain. When asked why they were being evacuated a member of staff said: "The fire alarm went off so we all had to leave."
The car park was closed to incoming traffic.
Lorenzo O'Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, Centre Manager said: "The evacuation was due to a faulty smoke head that failed to reset. The controlled evacuation took place promptly and without incident."
