Giorgia Frost in Miss Lancashire beauty pageant finals

Date published: 08 September 2016

Giorgia Frost has beaten hundreds of competitors to be one of 38 in the Miss Lancashire beauty pageant finals later this year.

Giorgia, 18, of Castleton, previously won the title of ‘Junior Miss Bolton and Bury 2015/16’ and the award of ‘Junior Miss Bolton and Bury Popularity’. She entered Miss Lancashire as her first senior contest because she enjoyed her experience of competing at a junior level.

The contestants have the chance to win two awards at the final, Miss Charity and Miss Publicity, which earn the winners extra points towards the title of Miss Lancashire.

The charity award shows that the winner has raised money for Variety, the children’s charity, to help sick and disadvantaged children have a better quality of life.

The publicity award expects contestants to promote themselves, the Miss England Organisation and defy the negative associations of pageants.

Giorgia said: “People don’t realise how much hard work and determination it actually takes. It’s not just about being the most flawless girl in the room and wearing bikinis.

“The heats are about having fun and trying something new and exciting. It’s about learning about yourself and what it means to be beautiful on the inside.

“Your personality counts for so much, not just looks.”

Giorgia is to attend the University of Salford later this month to study physical geography to further her aspirations of becoming a climatologist. She also plans to study abroad as she is fluent in Spanish and hopes to travel the world for a year after her studies have finished.

The theme of the pageant this year is ‘Countries Around The World’ to tie in with the Rio Olympic Games. Contestants are required to create an eco-friendly outfit from recycled materials and also give a speech about the creation.

The other three catwalk outfits are sports wear, party wear and evening wear.

The finals take place at 7pm on Sunday 16 October 2016 at the Playhouse Theatre in Preston. Miss Lancashire can compete for the Miss England title, who then has a chance to become Miss World.
