It’s our turn to save the firefighters, says Momentum

Only those firefighters who agree to new imposed conditions of service will get their jobs back
Momentum Rochdale, Heywood & Middleton has condemned the plans by the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GFMRS) to sack all fire fighters in Greater Manchester in order to force them to accept "worse conditions".
One in five jobs are to be slashed – 250 in total. The Fire Brigades Union says losing a fifth of the workforce will be harmful to public safety and threaten lives, especially at a time when the GMFRS’s own data show a recent increased use of the fire service – including a 140% increase in rescues over the last 12 months, and a threefold increase in deaths caused by fires.
A spokesperson for Momentum said: "The fire fighters’ working conditions are important to us all and must be protected. These cuts will have a direct impact on us all.
"We are grateful to fire fighters for their service to our community, at great risk to their own lives.
"We show solidarity in return by giving them our total support in their opposition to this attack."
