RBH Representative Body welcomes new members
Date published: 21 September 2016
The new tenant and employee members of the RBH Representative Body were welcomed into office at the 2016 Annual Members Meeting, held at Castlemere Banqueting Hall on Saturday (17 September).
RBH is the UK’s first tenant and employee co-owned mutual housing society, and the annual Representative Body elections are an opportunity to give RBH members a real say in the future of the Society and the communities in which they live and work. Each year one-third of the tenant and employee Representatives are up for election.
With nine tenant places available, the successful tenant candidates this year were Martin Burke, Peter Brown, Anne Black, Sharon Worsley and Andrew Johnson, who were elected for three year terms. Meg Holland was elected for a two-year term. Pat Hull, Stuart Taylor and Rachel David have all been elected to serve a one-year term.
796 tenant members cast their votes, a turnout of 17.5%
The three successful employee candidates were Julie Greenwell, Matt Graham and Phil Cole.
321 votes were cast by employees, a high turnout of 57.6%
They will be hitting the ground running in the coming months as they help to ensure that the Society’s mutual values are put into practice to benefit neighbourhoods around the Borough.
Edward Carpenter, RBH Governance Manager, said: “Congratulations to our successful election candidates who will play a key role in shaping the future of RBH. Our democratic elections are at the heart of our mutual society. We’re extremely grateful to everyone who voted in the election and to all our candidates – successful or otherwise – for giving our members the opportunity to participate. We’d also like to thank our retiring representatives for all their hard work during their terms in office.”
