Graham Banks and Elaine Ginnever of Healey Bowling Club took the title of Springhill Hospice Mixed Pairs Bowling Champions 2016 at Hare Hill Bowling Club in Littleborough on Sunday (18 September).
Les White and Millie Banks of Chesham Bowling Club were the runners up.
Eleven of the Borough’s finest bowling clubs took to the greens to take part in the annual challenge: Healey, Wardle, Chesham, Hare Hill, Milnrow (Ladybarn), Success to the Plough, Castleton, Kirkholt, Thistleyfield, Queens Park and Shaw Comrades.
The final competition raised £500 and added to the money raised by each bowling club at their qualifying competition, brings this year’s competition fundraising total to £2,100. Sunday’s event sponsors, Yorkshire Bank, are also match funding the money raised on the day.
Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill’s Fundraising Manager, said: “We couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better turn out. Every team has put in a great deal of time and effort into this competition, we can’t thank them enough.
“We’d like to thank Hare Hill who hosted this year’s competition, event sponsors, The Yorkshire Bank, Rochdale, prize sponsors Neil & Jean Montgomery and of course all the clubs for taking part. And a special thank you to the army of people who work tirelessly behind the scenes at all of these events to provide superb refreshments and tip top fundraising.”
