Gardeners dig deep for charity funday

Date published: 17 October 2016

A Family Funday at the Gardeners Arms on Hollin Lane in Middleton raised over £1,000 for Springhill Hospice.

A sunny Sunday brought out people of all ages to support the event which was the idea of Middleton local, Rachel Buckley in memory of her mum, Mary.

Activities included a barbecue, face painting, bucking bronco, inflatable darts and a disco dome. Raffle prizes, including a 42 inch television, were donated by local companies.

Rachel said: “I’m so grateful to everyone who helped to organise the day and make it such a success. It feels so good to be able to give something back to such a wonderful place like Springhill.

Barbara Lloyd, Hospice Community Support Fundraiserr: “We can’t thank Rachel and everyone at the Gardeners Arms enough for their support.

“This is a huge amount of money to raise in just one day and the generous donations from the people of Middleton, and the many companies from across the borough, will help us to continue to provide free care for our patients, their families and carers.”
