Council planning sub-committees to merge

Date published: 17 October 2016

A proposal is to be put forward by the Labour group at Wednesday's full council meeting to merge the four township planning sub-committees.

There are currently seperate planning sub-committees in Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale.

It is understood there were objections to the proposal from some councillors at a Labour Party group meeting on Monday night, however, a vote to take the proposal forward was won by almost three to one in favour.

Councillor Jacqui Beswick said: “So long as there is a representative from each township on the new committee I think it will be fine. There are often times when the Heywood committee doesn’t meet as there are no plans submitted.”
