Bethany Williams secures university dream

Date published: 18 October 2016

Bethany Williams is set to achieve her university dream after achieving outstanding AS results and completing an exciting summer residential at Durham University.

Former Oulder Hill Community School pupil Bethany Williams secured her place on the six day university visit which offers students an exclusive insight into university life as well an opportunity to discover what is available at Durham.

During the university visit Bethany enjoyed campus, museum and library tours, participating in discussion topics and seminars and experiencing a typical Durham University day. Having always had an interest in the Classics, the A Level student was also invited to attend a classics lecture conducted by a university lecturer.

Upon completion of the residential, Bethany found out that she had received a conditional offer to study at Durham University and is on track to make her university dream come true.

Bethany, 17, who is studying A Levels in Ancient History, English Literature and Sociology at Bury College said of the residential: “I really enjoyed the trip, it was great to make new friends and to familiarise myself with a university environment. My confidence has grown as a result of this trip and I feel really excited by the prospect of progressing onto Durham University.”

During her first year at Bury College, Bethany, from Rochdale, also experienced the University of Oxford where she was given an insight into the different courses available.

Bethany added: “I really like Bury College and the different opportunities I have been given such as attending the university residentials. I also receive a lot of great support from my tutors and would definitely recommend my A Level courses to those who are considering their college options.”
