Jamie O’Rourke (17/07/89) of Crescent Road, Brinnington, has been jailed after he sexually exploited teenage girls in Rochdale and Stockport.
O’Rourke pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual activity and two counts of voyeurism at an earlier hearing. He was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison on Friday (21 October).
On Wednesday 4 June 2014 O’Rourke, who was already on the sex offender register, was caught at a swimming baths in Stockport looking under cubicles, where two young girls were changing. He was detained and arrested for voyeurism.
In January 2016, O’Rourke was arrested for a sexual offence against a 15-year-old girl at an address in Stockport. He was then bailed.
As a result of enquiries conducted by police, it was found that between November 2015 and February 2016 O’Rourke had a sexual relationship with another girl, who was 15-years-old at the time. It was reported by the girl and O’Rourke was subsequently arrested for sexual activity with that child and remanded into custody.
Detective Chief Inspector John Harris from the Rochdale division said: “Firstly, I want to commend the victims for supporting our investigations, during what has been a difficult time. With their help, we have been able to ensure O’Rourke is behind bars and cannot prey on any more young girls.
“I also want to praise the excellent work of the Sunrise Team and officers in Stockport, who were dedicated to getting justice for O’Rourke’s victims.
“I hope this result demonstrates our commitment to getting justice for victims of child sexual exploitation.”
