Fire service rescue people on Culvert Street by boat

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service used a boat to rescue people from a row of houses on Culvert Street in Rochdale.

Flooding in Littleborough on Stubley Mill Road, Wildhouse Lane, Hare Hill Road, Todmorden Road, Shore Road and Smithy Bridge Road.

Flooding on Kinders Fold/Ribble Avenue in Shore - road closed.

Clive Jones said: "We had problems in Shore with flooding.

"The River Roch reached 1.1 metres and a number of other areas were flooded.

"The rain stopped at river level 1.4 metres."

Railway Street in Newhey is also flooded.

A local resident said: "Just how quickly the waters can rise." 

Kiln Lane and Dale Street in Milnrow are once again under water. Carpet Creations has been flooded for the fourth time this year.

Carpet Creations was flooded for fourth time since Boxing Day last night, Monday 21 November.

Owner Philip Holt said: “Fourth flood since Boxing Day. Now I’m lost for words. Its heart-breaking and soul destroying.

“Please tell me why our drains and gullies can’t cope.”

Environment Agency teams are working throughout the night clearing debris screens, including in Milnrow.

Rochdale Council has crews out working to help clear flood-affected roads. An extra gulley cleaner was brought in.

Between 4pm and 9pm, 230 emergency calls were made by people to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service - mostly reporting flooding and weather related issues.
