Sinkhole on Rochdale Road
Rochdale Road in Royton is now open after a huge sinkhole that appeared last week has been repaired.
The sinkhole appeared a week ago after a burst water main washed away the ground underneath causing the road surface to collapse.
Diversions were put in place via Shaw Road, Royton, Crompton Way and Rochdale Road, Shaw and Broad Lane, Rochdale.
Engineers ripped the road up to assess the extent of the damage.
The engineers had fixed the damaged water main by Friday and were then left with the prospect of repairing the road. They had to break up the shattered Tarmac and concrete before filling in the hole and laying a new surface.
