Tim Hudson supports Christmas Charity Challenge

Date published: 07 December 2016

Tim Hudson, a former Wardle Academy student from Wardle who is studying Level 3 IT and is a Bury College Student Governor said: “I think that the Lifeshare charity is a really good cause because it helps people where they need it most. Although I think that handing out food is absolutely great, the thing that I like about Lifeshare is the other things that they offer such as the support, assistance and information. I am proud that Bury College will be supporting this cause.”

Students and staff from across the college have pledged their support to both appeals and have set a target to collect 10,000 items of food and products during the month of December. Included on the ‘Most Wanted’ list for both organisations are tinned food, packet soup, rice, pasta, cereals, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and cleaning materials.

David Mottershead, Student Learning Mentor said, “Bury College are proud to support both of these charities and champion the amazing work that they do. This charity initiative will not only raise food and awareness but will also further develop students understanding about the importance of charity work.”

Both charities will benefit from the food parcels as they help vulnerable people who urgently require food packages. Lifeshare aim to meet the needs of vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Manchester and Porch Boxes provide food parcels and crisis packs for people in need.

As part of the college wide charity drive, each tutor group will receive a 10 minute presentation which will highlight to students the excellent work both charities carry out and the difference that the food parcels can make on people’s lives.
