Middleton dancers Mia Linnik-Holden and Andrei Toader have danced their way to be ranked amongst the top 10 worldwide in U19 Ballroom dance at the World Dance Championships in Paris.

Aged just 13 and 14, they came 10th in the U19 Ballroom and 13th in both the World U16 Latin and Ballroom categories and 38th in the World U19 Latin.

Mia’s mum, Maxine Holden, said: “I am very proud; they are so committed to their dancing and their hard work and dedication is evident in their results.”

The talented couple were able to take part in the World Dance Championships after Middleton Rotary Club helped fund their travel costs.

Earlier this year, Mia and Andrei also won the coveted first place spot in both the U16 Ballroom and Latin at the British National Champions in November, following from their victories in September when they became the Gateway Super League Junior Champions Ballroom & Latin champions. They also placed 2nd in Bournemouth Masters U16 Ten Dance Championships in July.

The duo have been dancing together since May 2015, and have risen fast within the junior ballroom and Latin ranks. They were the UK Close U14 Ballroom and Latin Champions, as well as the Dutch Open WDC UK U14 Ballroom and Latin Finalists, International U14 Finalists, WDC U14 World Ballroom Champions, U14 World Latin Vice Champions and British National U16 Ballroom and Latin Finalists placing third in Ballroom and fourth in Latin.

Mia started dancing at the age of six after asking her parents for lessons.

They will also be taking part in the British Open Junior Festival in April next year.
