Engineering students find out about structural engineer opportunities

Date published: 19 January 2017

Engineering students attended an event which provided information about different career choices, work experience opportunities, how to prepare yourself for working life and CV writing workshops.

Engineering student and former Oulder Hill Community School pupil Finn said of the information progression event: “I have found today really useful. I would like a career as a structural engineer so today has been great to find out what opportunities are available.”

Employers were on hand to offer advice about jobs within the industry sector and how to secure employment post college. Representatives from The Navy, Stage Coach and William Hare were just a few companies there to answer questions and discuss the different routes available.

Ceri Travers, Learning and Development Manager at William Hare, said: “We came along to today's event to highlight the great career opportunities that are available to students once they finish college. We are also keen to raise awareness of women in engineering and the options that are open to them. Today has been fantastic and we were delighted to be invited.”
