Community plan to give Norden a spring clean

Date published: 14 February 2017

Groups, businesses and individuals in Norden Village are backing a campaign to get half a million people out and about cleaning up their local communities in March 2017.

The brand new Great British Spring Clean will roll out for the first time in March 2017, with a view to it becoming an annual event helping to bring people together and clean up the country.

Councillors from Norden will be encouraging and supporting groups and individuals who want to ‘do their bit’ to help clear up the litter that blights our streets, parks and countryside.

Councillor Peter Winkler, Rochdale Council’s shadow spokesperson for Housing and the Environment, said: “I am delighted to be supporting the Great British Spring Clean and want to encourage as many groups, individuals and organisations as possible to take part, in Norden and right across our borough.

“Events will be happening throughout the village on 3, 4 and 5 March and I would like to see as many people as possible taking part. Remember, if you can’t join in with an organised event you can make a difference right outside your own front door by clearing litter or pulling a few weeds. Every effort no matter how small really helps us to keep our village looking beautiful."
