Sir Cyril now Comfortable in Rochdale Infirmary

Date published: 20 February 2006

Sir Cyril was rushed to the Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) at Rochdale Infirmary on Tuesday (14 February) having been found in a collapsed state by his brother Norman. Sir Cyril was found to have a dangerously low potassium level as a result of a severe stomach upset.

Local Liberal Democrat Councillor and Infirmary employee, Jean Ashworth, has visited Sir Cyril twice and says: "Cyril is in good spirits and has nothing but praise for the care he is receiving and is determined to continue his fight to save vital services at the Infirmary."

Having seen Cyril yesterday (Wednesday 15 February) Rochdale Liberal Democrat party worker David Hennigan added: "he must be getting a little better, because despite being very weak he has managed to cajole and tell off various doctors on future plans for Rochdale Infirmary!"

Sir Cyril will remain in Rochdale Infirmary for the next couple of weeks.

The latest news (Monday 20 February) is that Cyril is being well looked after by the doctors and nurses on the Stonehill Ward, Unit 1 and is feeling comfortable.
