Does your child want to join Beavers?

Date published: 03 March 2017

Wardle Scout Group is growing and starting up a second Beaver Colony.

Young people can start at Beavers from the age of five and three quarters until eight, when they will go to Cubs. Wardle Scout Group have ten places for those who are within the age range.

Norma Brandon, 1st Wardle Scout Group said: “We would like to invite your child and a parent to a trial Beaver sleepover to be held on the 1 and 2 April.

“The reason for this is to give the potential new Beaver a taster of what Beavers will be like and for them to bring a parent – so you can see what is involved in running Beavers and if there is any way in which you could help us to launch our second Beaver Colony.

“The sleepover will involve coming to our County HQ in Middleton, taking part in some fun activities where you and your child will experience some of the activities we do during our scouting lives and spending the night with us.

“The sleepover will start at 12.45pm on Saturday 1 April and finish at 12.00pm on Sunday.

“As your child is not yet a member of Scouting it is important that a parent is present during the day and night sleepover.

It is Scouting UK Safeguarding policy that everyone who is over 18 that spends a scouting led night away must have a current DBS issued through scouting – this needs to be done before the parent attends the sleepover.
