Guides in Heywood help clean Queen's Park

Date published: 14 March 2017

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members from Heywood cleaned up Queen’s Park as part of ‘The Big Tidy Up’ initiative run by Keep Britain Tidy.

The Heywood Guides Division joined with Friends of Queen’s Park as part of a huge nationwide initiative to effect positive change and carry out social action in the community.

The girlguiding members, aged between five and 25, arrived at the park and collected their gloves, bin bags and litter pickers before splitting up and collecting as much litter as they could. After completing the litter pick, the Friends of Queen’s Park provided hotdogs and bacon sandwiches to the hardworking litter pickers.

Friends of Queen’s Park and Girlguiding Heywood have since been in talks to arrange further events within the park, to keep the community clean and safe for all

Keep Britain Tidy campaigns encourage volunteer groups, businesses, youth organisations and schools across the UK to pull together and clean up Britain.
