Woman in serious condition after fall from motorway bridge

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after falling from an A627M motorway bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the A627M northbound, between junction 2 (Slattocks) and Junction 3 (M62) to reports that a woman had fallen from an overhead bridge shortly before 3pm.
The woman, said to be in her 40s, was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.
The northbound carriageway was closed for several hours until reopening shortly before 5pm. The southbound carriageway remained open.
