Irish flag raising event at Rochdale Town Hall
Over 60 people braved the elements on St Patrick's Day for the annual Irish flag raising above Rochdale Town Hall.
Mayor Ray Dutton raised the flag to the accompaniment of the Irish anthem. Mrs Maureen Maguire widow of the the late Patsy Maguire, who was instrumental in setting up the event 10 years ago, attended along with several councillors.
The flag had earlier been borne in procession from the Town Hall.
A spokesperson said: "Afterwards refreshments were enjoyed by all in the Council Chambers.
"There was a lively sing song including Danny Boy and The Fields of Athenry."
