The Friends of Hopwood Park and Heywood Activities Partnership have successfully received a grant for £10,500 towards delivering out of school activities for children.
The bid was made to HMR CCG Social Investment Fund after hearing about council cuts for funding children's play provision.
Chairwoman of the Friends, Sandra Trickett, expects the activities made possible through this latest grant will prove just as popular, if not more so, than the free afternoon play sessions which were held earlier this year.
She said: “This grant will make a big difference for lots of groups within Heywood. We will be able to work together through Heywood Activities Partnership to provide children in Heywood with fantastic activity and play opportunities during school holidays, at low cost, to help local families.”
Ideas include ‘bikeability’, a large inflatable obstacle course and a fun day in the summer holidays with a variety of activities provided.
