Councillors Surinder and Cecile Biant with Edna Heywood
A new shelter has been opened at Falinge Park Bowling Club by Councillor Cecile Biant.
It was erected alongside the lady’s green by club members in honour of Edna Heywood, who is aged 98.
Edna has been a club member since 1938 and is currently club president. She still bowls at the club and made a substantial donation toward the cost of the shelter.
A club spokesperson said: "Councillor Biant was delighted to open the new shelter.
"The club would also like to thank Councillor Biant for her support in raising funds for the new boundary fence and the club would like to thank Rochdale Council for upgrading the grounds facilities."
