Hamer Community Primary School

The children in UKS2 were lucky enough to receive a visit this week from a Viking. This coin-cides with their current topic of Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The session was very informative and it was great to see the children so engaged. Our visitor was glowing in his praise for the children.

On Monday 5 June, we held our latest Teaching & Learning day with the children. This covered a variety of activities such as Target Setting, Marking & Feedback and Assertive Mentoring. The children really engaged with everything that was discussed and some great work was produced.

On Thursday 8 June, our School Council met with some members of our governing body to find out more about their role in school and how they contribute to decisions made within school. The governors were impressed with their mature attitudes during the meeting.

Children in KS2 have spent time this week discussing the General Election and sharing their thoughts on each parties’ manifesto. This culminated in a mock election on Thursday where children were given the opportunity to vote. The turnout of voters was 59%, with Labour victo-rious.

On Tuesday 13 June, our Community Cohesion ambassadors welcomed their colleagues from Marland Hill, Lowerplace & Rochdale Sixth Form college. This was their final session in prepara-tion for delivering their speeches at the Town Hall later this month
