A cigarette sparked fire at a house on Greystoke Drive, Middleton on Wednesday (21 June).
On arrival fire crews found a sofa had been on fire and used one hose reel to ensure it was fully extinguished.
Watch Manger Mark Bamford said: “Alcohol and smoking do not mix. If you are going to smoke, please make sure you put out your cigarettes properly, as otherwise they can start fires. Don’t take the risk.”
