Rochdale Connections Trust have been awarded £1,000 by former Mayor and Mayoress Ray Dutton and his wife Elaine from the funds raised by the Mayor of Rochdale’s Charity.
Bev Place, from Rochdale Connections Trust, said: “It has been an honour to work so closely with the former Mayor and Mayoress during their term of office.
“They often called in to meet the young people and families that we work with, to present certificates and to celebrate achievement.
“They were genuinely interested in finding out more about everyone they met and encouraging their progress.
“We are thrilled they have awarded this money to allow us to take families out and for them to enjoy a carefree day together. Everyone at Rochdale Connections Trust extends their sincere thanks.
“Elaine has even signed up to train as a volunteer mentor and is due to undertake training in September.”
Rochdale Connections Trust provides a range of valuable support services, including work with vulnerable families living across the most deprived communities throughout the Borough.
The funding will be used to allow the families we work with who are in greatest need to enjoy a fun day out during the school summer holidays.
Gulliver’s World has been selected as the most popular option and the trip is scheduled to take place in mid-August.
