Eileen March £1,000 donation is blooming amazing

Date published: 11 July 2017

The award-winning Growth Project at Kellett St Allotments got a real boost when they were given a donation of £1,000 from Eileen March, a well-wisher who had heard how badly the project was effected by 2015 floods and that they been flooded again in December 2016.

Eileen donated to the project to help to pay for some of the latest damage caused by the floods, including fencing repairs and materials to put the finishing touches to the straw bale community building.

She heard about the Growth Project through her daughter and after visiting the project and meeting the beneficiaries she decided that it would be a good charity to donate to.

A spokesperson for the project said: "We are very grateful to Eileen and we have promised to put the money to good use.

“It is especially kind of her because we have been through the wars over the past few years with continuous flooding and a reduction in our funding which has put a lot of pressure on our resources.

“We are also hoping that Eileen will be able to come to review our progress when we open to the public under the National Garden Scheme on Saturday the 5 August, which is just after being judged for Rochdale in Bloom.

“We are hoping to get outstanding again this year as we have lots of new features which should interest the judges and the public."
