£12,000 97 second promotional film
Rochdale Borough Council has paid a staggering £12,000 to a Hull-based company for a 97 second promotional film to "show its vision of Rochdale".
The Council says the (very) short film is "used during presentations and online to advance Rochdale’s profile".
A spokesperson for the Council added: "The film was commissioned and is used by the Rochdale Ambassadors to showcase Rochdale, showing its regeneration, history, stunning scenery, businesses and the potential opportunities the borough offers to new businesses."
The 'Rochdale Ambassadors' - "a private-public sector led group that highlights the town as a destination for businesses" - was launched on 24 March 2017, two and a half months after the invoice for the film dated 9 January 2017.
The news comes just a fortnight after it was revealed that a children's charity is having to close due to the council pulling the plug on a grant without which the charity is not financially viable.
Rochdale and District Play Action Council provided play opportunities for thousands of children in the borough for over 30 years.
