Liz McInnes, MP for Heywood and Middleton, has handed a cheque for £1000 to the Lee Rigby Foundation she raisied running the Manchester 10k in May.
Ms McInnes, a long-time supporter of the Foundation, met with Lyn Rigby to hand over the money.
Lyn’s son Lee Rigby was murdered in May 2013 in an attack which shocked his home town of Middleton and the whole country.
Ms McInnes said: “I am delighted to have raised so much for such a fantastic cause.
"The Foundation was set up by Lee’s parents Lyn and Ian to help veterans and their families when they need rest, respite and recovery.
"It is wonderful that Lee’s parents are doing something so positive to remember their son by, which will hopefully benefit countless others in the military and their families.
"Lee will never be forgotten by people in Middleton, and through the Foundation his name and legacy will live on.”
The Lee Rigby Foundation is busy setting up a series of projects.
Linda Fisher, from the Lee Rigby Foundation, said: “Clearly our ambitious plans need ongoing support and funding, so we are very grateful to Liz for her help fundraising and building awareness.
"We are working in partnership with our local Armed Forces Covenant team and other partners to make this an exemplar project all within one country estate.
"We would like businesses to support our plans and we are working hard applying for funding, grants and raising funds.
