Wardleworth Community Centre family fun day

Wardleworth Community Centre held a family fun day on Thursday (31 August) as part of their ‘August Adventures’ for the local community in the Wardleworth area.

The event was attended by Mayor Ian Duckworth, Councillor Ali Ahmed and Sultan Ali along with management committee members who praised the volunteers and staff for planning and delivering the event which was well attended.

Children enjoyed playing on the bouncy castle, canvas painting, penalty shootout, the under 13 mini football tournament along with treating them self with freshly made BBQ burgers, cakes and other activities and stalls including information stalls on recycling and local PCSOs were also available.

The Mayor presented trophies to the winning teams and even took part in the penalty shootout too.

Dewan Choudhuory, a youth worker at the centre, said: “It was a fantastic event which the community participated in.

“The young people worked extremely well together and have developed new skills in team working and took part in the under 13 football tournament was excellent.”

Mahbub, a young volunteer who helped organised the event, commented: “It was a really good day. I was happy to see our community come together and have fun. I am also excited to plan another event very soon.”

Mohammed Miah, centre manager, said: “I am really pleased that so many people came out to enjoy the activities with their children and families on such a beautiful day.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to the volunteers as without them, it would not have been possible to deliver this event. Thank you to all.”
