Over 4,000 Universal Credit claimants in Rochdale

There are currently 4,080 Universal Credit claimants in Rochdale, a 4% increase on this time last year, with 860 claimants between the ages of 18-24, a 10% decrease on last year, newly released figures show.
Nationally, 1.4 million claims have been made to Universal Credit. There are 610,000 people on Universal Credit.
Total claimants have almost halved in the past five years, with a 46% decrease, and a 63% reduction for the 18-24 age group.
