The team responsible for keeping all the Council’s buildings clean have been recognised as one of the best in the UK - reaching the final of a national competition.

The team was put forward for the APSE Building Cleaning Service Award. (The Association for Public Sector Excellence) and made it through to the final five in the ‘Best Service Team of the Year: Facilities Management and Building Cleaning Service’ category. Although missing out on top spot they were still recognised as being amongst the top five local authority cleaning services in the UK.

Peter Gurney, manager of facilities and cleaning, said: “To make the final five in the UK is a credit both to the front line cleaning staff and managers in their commitment to ensuring all the buildings cleaned by our facilities management team meet the exacting standards required by our clients.”

The annual awards are designed to recognise excellence in local government frontline services across the UK.
