Hopwood Park ‘Pink Party’ raises £153 for breast cancer research

Date published: 23 October 2017

A ‘pink party’ at Hopwood Park in aid of breast cancer research has raised £153.

The fundraiser took place on Friday (20 October) and featured a tombola and raffle with prosecco and refreshments served courtesy of Hopwood Cabin.

Chairwoman of the Friends of Hopwood Park, Sandra Trickett, said: “Thank you so much to all volunteers who helped make the event possible, and thank you to everyone who came to support such a worthy cause.

The Friends also served up apple crumble, served with local Birch Farm old-fashioned ice cream, thanks to a large number of Bramley apples donated by Councillor Carol Wardle, who also attended the event.

Following an appeal from Councillor Wardle, Heywood & Middleton Volunteer Police Cadets offered to pick all the apples from the trees on Carol's local farm and distribute them to local Heywood charities, including The Friends of Hopwood Park.

Sandra added: “The apples were a nice touch, and we are glad Councillor Wardle dropped by.”
