Beauty Boutique wins ‘best dressed window’ for Little‘Pink’Borough

Date published: 25 October 2017

For the second year running, Littleborough was painted pink for Cancer Research, with Littleborough salon Beauty Boutique being awarded the best dressed window display.

The Three Amigos Fundraising Group – Andy and Kath O’Donnell, plus their Yorkshire Terrier, Oscar – began painting Littleborough pink for their 10th anniversary in October 2016 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK: as part of Cancer Awareness Month, shops and businesses across Littleborough dress their window displays in pink with a trophy available for the best window.

The Little'Pink'Borough window displays were judged on Saturday (21 October), by the Mayor and Mayoress, Ian and Christine Duckworth, who visited many shops across the town and commended the hard work done in supporting the pink campaign. Rochdale’s MP Tony Lloyd and Councillor Janet Emsley were also in attendance.

Winner Beauty Boutique, owned by Linzi Walker, was dressed in a pink Halloween theme by Linzi and Lindsey Stansfield. Fittingly, their slogan declared: “Frighten cancer, we can NAIL IT.”

Linzi said: “I was happy just supporting Little'Pink'Borough, in memory of my grandad Carney. It created a great atmosphere; we had cakes, fizz and glitter faces done on the premises on Saturday that raised a good amount for Cancer Research UK.

She added: “Thank you for everyone who supported us at Beauty Boutique Littleborough, including my colleague Heidi Ozluk, who helped on the day. A special thank you goes to the Mayor and Mayoress for their vote and visiting us on the day.”

Kath and Andy said: “The Three Amigos Fundraising Group would like to thank everyone who supported the event. The village looked fantastic in pink and we are very grateful for those who took part.”

The event was sponsored by last year’s winner, Little Gift Box, who won with an Alice in Wonderland themed display, along with estate agents Face2Face.
