Evie Jean Hill raises over £700 for Little Princess Trust

Date published: 13 November 2017

Evie Jean Hill has raised £715.88 for the Little Princess Trust after cutting her hair for the charity.

Evie, seven, from Castleton, had ‘had enough’ of her long tresses, and wanted to ‘give it to people who do not have any hair’. Approximately 15” of her hair was cut which has been donated to the charity, who supply children who have experienced hair loss with wigs.

Her mum Rebecca said: “I am lucky to have a little girl that is so thoughtful of others. I absolutely admire her determination to make others happy. She was very pleased when the plaits were getting cut off. I’m so proud of her.”

The seven-year-old initially wanted to raise enough to cover the cost of making a wig, which is around £350, but has more than doubled her goal. To help Evie reach her target, ‘pink’ fundraising days took place at the Co-op on 21 and 27 October, and donation boxes were set up in Castleton shops, including Commic Candy, Juniper’s and the Co-op.

Evie enjoyed the experience so much that she is planning to grow her hair again so she donate again in the future.

The Little Princess Trust supplies children with conditions that result in hair loss, such as alopecia or chemotherapy. 120g of hair is required for each wig, which is approximately five to seven donations. A minimum donation of seven inches is required.
