Date confirmed for Oldham Chronicle launch

Date published: 05 February 2018

The new Rochdale Online developed Oldham Chronicle website will launch on Wednesday 14 February.

After 163 years in print, the daily Chronicle newspaper ceased publication on 31 August 2017 when its parent company, Hirst, Kidd and Rennie Ltd, went into administration.

Credible Media, which owns local radio station Revolution 96.2, purchased the Chronicle in October, along with the rights to quarterly magazines Oldham Business Edge, the Knowledge and lifestyle publication, Signature.

Revolution 96.2 managing director Matt Ramsbottom says he is delighted to bring the hugely-respected and much missed title back to life.

He said: “Everyone has worked hard to get the Oldham Chronicle brand publishing local news again online.

"With the love the readers have for the Chronicle, Valentine’s day is fitting to relaunch the website and social media platforms.”

The new Chronicle website will go live from 10am on 14 February and is free to view, with no subscription required.

As part of the agreement with the Oldham Chronicle, the current Rochdale Online owned Oldham Times website will be taken down.
