Car parks and roads to close as work starts on Rochdale Riverside

Town centre car parks and roads are to close when work starts on the Rochdale Riverside development on 26 February.

The changes mainly affect around Baillie Street and Smith Street, where the black box and old bus station were located.

Car parks closing permanently

  • Zone A - Milton Street West (the old bus station site)
  • Milton Street East
  • Zone C - Baillie Street

Alternative Car Parks

Alternative town centre car parks include the 800 space Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre and the 120 space Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre.

  • Broadfield Upper and Lower on King Street
  • Church Lane
  • Eastgate on Whitehall Street
  • Greenwood Street
  • High Street
  • Packer Street
  • Reed Hill
  • River Street
  • Town Centre Zone B (formerly Lower Penn Street)
  • Town Centre Zone D (formerly Upper Penn Street)
  • The Esplanade
  • Town Hall Square
  • Upper Yorkshire Street
  • Dunelm - Whitworth Road

 

Road Closures

 

Town centre road closures

 

Road closures will be put in place when work starts and will change as the development progresses.

Constantine Road closes for vehicles for nine months from 5 March - the footpath will remain open.

Smith Street closes 12 March - 13 April.

Some footpaths may need to be temporarily diverted.
