Man arrested and murder investigation launched after body of woman found

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Castleton.
Police attended an address on Alexander Street on Thursday morning (12 April) and found the body of a woman.
Detective Inspector Dave Meeney of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “It is very early days in this investigation, and we are working to establish how this tragic incident unfolded.
“A man has been arrested, but our enquiries will continue until we have answers to the questions this woman’s family rightly deserve.
“We need the public’s help with this so, please, if you have any information that could help us understand how this happened, get in touch with police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 9171 quoting incident number 410 of 12/04/18. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
