Goldrick’s back the Women of Rochdale Award

Date published: 17 April 2018

Heywood community fundraisers, Mike and Debbie Goldrick are backing the Women of Rochdale luncheon.

As well as Goldrick Blinds sponsoring the event to the tune of £1,000, their daughter, local business woman, Mel Caffrey, will take her place on the all-female committee that selects the winner of the title of Rochdale, Woman of the Year.

Mike Goldrick said: “We’ve supported the Hospice for many years; we know the work of the doctors, nurses and volunteers is important to so many in the borough.

“Mel being asked onto the committee was great, she is an ideal choice as she’s local, a working mum and involved on many levels with initiatives in the local community, so a great judge of the sort of attributes a Woman of Rochdale should have.

“She also organised the event for Springhill for a number of years, so she’s got a great knowledge of previous winners and the good work they do.”

Talking about the Goldrick’s contributions, Hospice Chief Executive Julie Halliwell said: “We’re thrilled that Mike and Debbie at Goldrick Blinds are supporting this event again, they’re backing adds to the prestige of the Woman of Rochdale award.

" As for the committee inviting Mel to join them, well they couldn’t have made a better choice.”

Another new-comer to this year’s event the Hospice would like to thank is local building contractor Jackson and Jackson, whhich is sponsoring a sparkling prosecco reception before the Woman of Rochdale luncheon.

The Woman of Rochdale Luncheon takes place on Friday 27 April within the Great Hall at Rochdale Town Hall with special guest speaker, Joanna Rowsell Shand MBE, former world champion and gold medal Olympic cyclist at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
