Rochdale is looking greener and cleaner, thanks to a community litter pick at the weekend.

Community groups, including Rochdale Council of Mosques, Petrus PIER, CommuniTea and Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG), rallied together on 21 April, working to improve the town.

A representative for REAG explained: “We have been with Bob Bevan, from Rochdale Council Environmental Management, starting a clear up of Coptrod Wood which runs from Mellor Street up towards the cemetery. The plan is to reclaim the area and return it to a public woodland.”

A Faiths 4 Change representative said: “A huge thank you to everyone who got stuck in at our litter pick in Rochdale. [There are] lots of exciting conversations and plans made for new activities in summer.”

A representative for Rochdale in Bloom commented: “It was great to see so many community volunteers out enjoying the beautiful weather yesterday and improving our town for all to enjoy.”

A Communitea representative added: “Excellent work by everyone that turned up and a big thank you from us all at CommuniTea.”
