The Rigby Guardians came from all across the country on Sunday (20 May) to remember Fusilier Lee Rigby on the fifth anniversary of his death.

They rode from Rochdale Town Hall, through Heywood and Middleton on to a parade with the Manchester Pipe Band to Middleton Memorial Garden where they were joined by Lee’s family and the community for a service of remembrance.

Founder of Rigby’s Guardians, the 'Reverend' Gavin Vitler, said: “We ride to honour all our armed forces personnel past and present. Raising funds for the Lee Rigby Foundation.

“Special thanks to our biker marshals from the local clubs for a job well done another amazing ride.

“Wing commander Ernie Moore has done a splendid job.

“Thank you to all who has supported the Lee Rigby ride for the past five years your all amazing thank you to the cadets and the band.

“Also thanks to Rev David Gray for leading the service of remembrance and to parade and to marshal Sgt Major Ron Aikens and all who volunteered to the families of the 22 Manchester victims thank you and god bless.

“Myself and the foundation team are overwhelmed and are planning a weekend party at the Lee Rigby house for all supporters with free camping raising funds for the foundation.”

Janet Hunt said of the ride: "It was awesome, we enjoyed it, a fitting tribute."

Nathan Shelton-Roberts said: "Wow, what a turn out, well done."

John Herbie Herbert added: "Great day, respect to Lee and his family, the marshals were great, a well organised event, thanks for letting us be part of it."

Ste Turner commneted: "Amazing turn out guys and well done to everyone was nice to see so much support and respect."
