Stansfield Hall School celebrate “It’s Great To Be Me….”
Stansfield Hall CE/Free Church Primary School celebrated “It’s Great To Be Me….” with the whole school celebrating diversity by sharing a rainbow cake, decorating their own t-shirts with the phrase “It’s Great To Be Me….” after joining together to form a large human “Pride Flag” in the playground on Thursday 17 May.
Richard Walthall, Head Teacher said: “Stansfield Hall is proud of its inclusive nature and celebrates diversity in a number of ways. The School holds the Stonewall Schools Champion Silver award in recognition of its diversity work and is currently working towards the gold award.
“Our school feels it is vital to children’s emotional wellbeing to celebrate the individual child and embrace the differences and similarities accepting people for who they are without exception.
“Every member of our school community took part with each class wearing a different colour of the “Pride Flag” with the teachers, teaching assistants, facilities management staff and office staff making up the 6th colour.
“The children enjoyed the opportunity to express themselves as individuals and took great pride wearing their t-shirts home, especially the Year 6 children who had only completed their final SATs test moments earlier.
“The School council stayed behind after school to join the staff and governing board in a celebratory tea, with another Rainbow Cake, to share their ‘International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia’ work and “It’s Great to Be Me” t-shirts.
