Football: Shawclough FC winners

Shawclough FC had a double reason to celebrate with two out of their three under seven teams winning the Heywood League Champions Cup in their respective divisions.
The cup run started in January with both teams advancing through their group stages to the finals which were held at Heywood Soccer Village on the 20 May.
‘Shawclough U7 A’ were crowned champions of the North Division while the more recently formed ‘Shawclough U7 Whites’ dominated the South Division.
Malc Grimwood, Coach of Shawclough U7 A, said: “It is a testament to how far the younger teams have come this season.
“Our other U7’s, Shawclough Reds, narrowly missed out on the finals after taking their semi-final to penalties, so it was very nearly a derby final.
“The future of Shawclough FC is looking good with so many talented young players at the club.”
