Dementia and Diabetes awareness sessions at Deeplish Community Centre
Deeplish Community Centre held two events to raise awareness about Diabetes and Dementia for local community members.
The purpose of these events was to provide information and an awareness to community members, carers, family members as how to manage and get support from other agencies and organisations.
Participants also learnt about conditions, symptoms and how to support with these conditions.
People from diverse backgrounds facing barriers due to health issues attended and there was discussion about diet, exercise, and how to adopt healthy life style and manage diabetes and dementia.
Mohammd Sarwar, from CWTC, said: “The two events were very interactive allowing the participants to ask questions about dementia and diabetes.
“It was reassuring to hear that delivering in community languages had a greater impact on their understanding.”
Sohail Ahmad, operations manager at Deeplish Community Centre, said: “We are pleased to see so many people attending our health and well-being activities at the centre and taking an active part in finding out more about healthier lifestyles.”
