Several cars have been written off following a collision on Birch Road in Wardle during the early hours of Thursday morning (9 August).

One resident, Mandy Tiffany said: “We heard what sounded like an explosion and opened the blinds to see a business sprinter van smashed into our cars. I ran out thinking someone must be dead.”

The residents’ vehicles have been so badly damaged that they have all had to hire cars.

Mandy continued: “We weren’t hurt but the stress is awful. My neighbour had to spend £300 on new car seats yesterday which she won’t get back until it’s gone through and we have all missed work.”

She added: “I’m glad no-one was physically injured: it could have been so much worse.”
