Two released without charge in murder investigation

Two women aged 44 and 47, arrested as part of a murder investigation in Rochdale, have been released without further action.

Four people arrested on suspicion of murder – three men aged 49, 43 and 70, and a woman aged 69 – remain in police custody for questioning.

At around 10.15pm on Saturday 11 August 2018 paramedics were called to a report of an unresponsive man at a property on Palatine Street, Rochdale.

The ambulance service attended and alerted police. On arrival, officers discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 40s inside the property.

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Chatterton, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We would continue to urge the public to get in touch with any information they have on this incident.

“We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Palatine Street between 6.25pm and 10.35pm on Saturday 11 August.

“Even the smallest detail might be of great significance to our investigation and could prove vital in finding those responsible for this man’s death.”
