Date published: 03 September 2018

A summer playscheme ended with a party at Deeplish Community Centre on Friday (31 August).

Young children also received certificates of participation, excellence in sports, arts, presentations, and for being well-behaved during the Playscheme.

During the summer, Deeplish Community Centre became a hub of providing children and young people’s activities – providing a fun-based stimulating, learning, and team activities.

The centre worked with more than 100 children and young people over four weeks, organising a range of sports, educational, arts and outdoor activities for all, encouraging partnership, confidence, friendship, plus safe play and fun.

Playscheme coordinator Attiya Malik said: “This year we provided indoor and outdoor activities for all including sports, arts, safer neighbourhood workshops, safety advice, healthy living and visits to local and regional parks.

“We received very positive and encouraging feedback from children and parents. It’s good to see young children achieving their potential and being happy in their local community environment.”

Sohail Ahmad, operations manager for Deeplish Communtiy Centre projects, said: “It’s good to see young people and children achieving their full potential in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. This year’s Playscheme was run at full scale with full of fun and interactive activities and everyone enjoyed and participated.

“We developed young role models and volunteers to support younger children. It’s good to see positive activities where young children are developing confidence, participating in fun and learning social skills.”

Playscheme was supported by Greater Manchester Police, Link4Life, NCS, Skylight Circus and local artists to provide a safe and secure, friendly and enjoyable experience.
