Used syringes were found near St Edward's Primary School
Used needles have been discovered in an alleyway near a primary school in Castleton.
The needles were found on Friday evening on Hanover Street near St Edward’s School by a local resident, who subsequently reported the drug-related paraphernalia to Rochdale Borough Council, the police and a local housing association.
Martin Taylor, head of environmental management at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We would like to thank residents for bringing this to our attention.
“We dispatch teams as a priority to reports of syringes and drug paraphernalia in areas that are open to the public.
“Anyone who sees syringes or other litter can report them online or call 0300 303 8884.”
Greater Manchester Police and the housing association have been contacted for comment.
