Autism Champion Award

We are proud to announce that our school has received an Autism Champion Accreditation. This is due to the commitment we have shown in becoming an autism friendly school.

During our assessment we were able to show how we make autism friendly adjustments within our teaching and also in the school environment itself.

Staff training both externally and internally was part of the accreditation process and will be reviewed every three years to ensure that the required standards and skills are being maintained.

Parent Message Praises Help and Support

We have received the following message regarding a past pupil, this was in response to our post regarding the recent Autism Champion Accreditation we received at the end of the last academic year.

“Fantastic, was the best choice of school for my son who has Asperger’s Syndrome. His time at St. Cuthbert's prepared him well for further education and for life. He went on to get a university degree and is going back to do his Master’s this month. I cannot thank or praise you enough for all the help and support.” Tracie-Anne Saville.

Free Running / Parkour Club

Mr Topham will be starting the club again from Monday 10 September next week. From 3pm until 4pm in the school gym. P.E. kit and suitable footwear will be required to take part. Pupils from all year groups are welcome.

A Healthy Choice Helps Future Babies

At the beginning of the year Mrs Pollard made a very brave decision to ask her colleagues for sponsorship with the intention of stopping smoking. This was prompted by the birth of her twin grandchildren who needed the support of the Neonatal Unit as they were premature babies. Mrs Pollard’s willpower and sheer determination was rewarded at the end of July when her target was met.

Raising £700.00 for the Neonatal Unit at The Royal Oldham Hospital was an amazing achievement.

Mrs Pollard said: “Thank you all so much for your generosity in helping me to quit smoking and raising this amount of money.” The money will be used for parents and premature babies within the unit.

Assemblies

Assemblies this week concentrated on the new Form routine. Topics in Form class will be covered by the whole school and include current affairs, weekly themes and British values.

Our new Mission Statement / School Prayer has also been launched this week which underpins everything that we do here at St. Cuthbert’s.

This week the value of Love was the main focus taken from our Core Values.

Love is the inspiration for the other four Core Values which are Respect, Compassion, Service and Stewardship.
