Restriction and location: temporary closure of:

the northerly carriageway of Halifax Road, Smallbridge, from its junction with Wardle Road to its junction with Bridge Street. Vehicles will not be allowed to travel in an easterly direction (towards Littleborough). Vehicles travelling along the southerly carriageway in a westerly direction (towards Rochdale) will not be affected.

the easterly carriageway of Wardle Road, Smallbridge, from a point opposite the unnamed parking area at Low Bank off Wardle Road to its junction with Halifax Road. Vehicles will not be allowed to travel in a southerly direction but vehicles travelling along the westerly carriageway in a northerly direction (towards the village of Wardle) will not be affected.

Expected start and finish : 8am - 6pm, Sunday, 16 September 2018.
Reason: to replace a dangerous manhole frame and cover in the carriageway. 
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles travelling in an easterly direction along Halifax Road, or in a southerly direction along Wardle Road, is in a northerly direction along Wardle Road, then Ramsden Road, Birch Road and Halifax Road.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

  • Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with RocFFp43 for 92 metres before turning in an easterly direction for 23 metres to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 329, MilFp329, and Milnrow Footpath 330, MilFp33O, being 123 metres east of the most northerly corner of 37 Sunhill Close, Rochdale.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 14 December 2017 - midnight, Wednesday, 14 November 2018.
Reason: to undertake some underground cabling work.

Reason: to remove vegetation from the railway.

Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday, 15 January 2020.
Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 
Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.
